It’s been just over four months since Virgil Abloh passed, but his Off-White brand remains a staple of streetwear culture.
Nike revealed Wednesday that it will be releasing the Nike x Off-White Blazer Low sneaker, this marks their first collaboration since Abloh’s tragic passing in late-November.
The sneaker itself comes in an aesthetic inspired by Nike basketball, skateboarding, and trail running models along with several cut-out holes with transparent windows. It also features a distinctively sharp TPU heel piece inspired by the Nike Air Terra Humara. It comes in two distinct colourways: black and green and white with university red.
“Prior to his passing, Abloh was characteristically prolific,” reads a statement from Nike. “In his planning with Nike, Abloh and his creative trust had developed fully realized product collaborations and uniquely Abloh marketing and storytelling vehicles for seasons to come.”
Out of respect for Abloh’s wishes and his family, Nike had initially paused all of his product initiatives with the brand following his death, but in consultation with his wife, Shannon Abloh, it appears that they’re ready to move forward and celebrate Virgil’s creative genius that inspired a generation of streetwear culture.
The Nike x Off-White Blazer Low sneakers drop at Nike and Off-White stores on April 8 and retail for $140 USD.
