Former Apple mobile advertising executive Andrew Pruett has been named the new CEO of NRG eSports, the organization announced through ESPN's Jacob Wolf on Tuesday.

Pruett is an advertising and sales expert with previous stops at Disney, AMG and Quattro Wireless - a mobile advertising platform founded by current NRG co-owner Andy Miller. Quattro was acquired by Apple in 2010.

"I am honoured to join and work alongside the best in class business leadership - spanning traditional sports, marketing, media, technology, entrepreneurship and esports athletes," Pruett told ESPN.

"It's beyond exciting to be at the forefront of this phenomenal tidal wave of a new generation of sports enthusiasts. There's a lot to do and I'm ready to hit the ground running to build a leading brand and winning culture at NRG."

Despite the addition of Pruett, ESPN reports former CEO and another NRG co-founder Gerard Kelly will remain with the organization in a general management role.

Hiring a new CEO is just the most recent act in a string of big moves for NRG, including a round of investments that opened the doors for NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neil, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and Chicago White Sox shortstop Jimmy Rollins to get involved.

NRG eSports has a League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team.
