Ohio star Rourke set to see doctors, early signs positive
Ohio star Kurtis Rourke will see doctors again Thursday, but it appears the early indications are positive for the Canadian quarterback's knee injury.
Head coach Tim Albin said Rourke has no swelling, is not on crutches and can put weight on the knee. He added the team will know more on the extent of the injury Friday.
Ohio will have a chance to clinch their spot in the MAC Conference Championship on Tuesday against Bowling Green (on TSN).
Rourke was injured in Tuesday's win over the Ball State Cardinals in the second quarter and did not return.
Prior to leaving the game, Rourke was 12-of-16 for 169 yards and one touchdown, adding 12 yards on the ground. Ohio led 17-3 at the half after scoring the entirety of their points in the second quarter. Ohio went on to win the game 32-18 as backup C.J. Harris went 5-for-8 with 34 yards passing after replacing Rourke.
The younger brother of BC Lions standout Nathan Rourke, the junior from Oakville, Ont., has 3,256 yards passing and 25 touchdowns compared to seven interceptions this season for the Bobcats.
Ohio plays Bowling Green Tuesday on TSN. It’s win and you’re into the MAC Championship (Nathan never made it to MAC Championship as Ohio QB)
