The Detroit Red Wings are close to re-signing forward Patrick Kane on a one-year extension, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

Kane, 35, recorded 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games with the Red Wings last season.

The 5-foot-10 winger joined the organization in November of 2023 after he signed a one-year, $2.75 million deal.

Kane was drafted first overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2007, where he played the first 16 seasons of his career. He helped the Blackhawks win three Stanley Cups and is second all-time with 1,225 points, 779 assists, and is third all-time with 446 goals.

His 1,284 career points places Kane 38th on the all-time NHL scoring list to go along with his 471 goals in 1,230 career games split between the Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and Red Wings.

The Buffalo native has won the Hart Trophy (2016), Conn Smythe Trophy (2013), Calder Trophy (2008), and the Art Ross Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award (2016).

He was also named as one of the NHL’s top-100 players in 2017 as part of the league’s centennial season.

Kane represented the United States twice at the Olympics and helped the team win a silver medal in 2010. He also represented his country three times at the World Championship, bringing home a bronze medal in 2018.
