Roma is out of the Champions League and Eusebio Di Francesco is out at Roma.
On the heels of their controversial loss to Porto in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie, the club announced on Thursday that Eusebio has left the club after two-and-a-half years in charge.
The Guardian reports former manager Claudio Ranieri is expected to again take the reins of the club.
“On behalf of myself and everyone at AS Roma, I’d like to thank Eusebio for his work and his commitment," team president Jim Pallotta said in a release. "Since returning to the club, Eusebio has always acted professionally and put the club’s needs ahead of his own. We all wish him well for the future."
Roma was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday on Alex Telles's 117th-minute penalty, controversially won when Alessandro Florenzi was adjudged to have pulled Fernando to the ground in the area. Porto won 4-3 on aggregate.
The Giallorossi reached the Champions League semi-finals last season for the first time ever.
As a player, Eusebio spent five seasons at Roma, including as a member of the 2001 Scudetto-winning side.
Ranieri coached Roma for three seasons from 2009 to 2011. He was fired last week by Premier League strugglers Fulham after only 17 matches in charge.
A native of Rome, Ranieri won a Premier League title in 2017 as manager of Leicester City and has an extensive coaching resume with clubs from all over the world including stints with Chelsea, Monaco, Atletico, Valencia, Juventus, Parma and Nantes.
Domestically, Roma currently sit fifth in the Serie A table, three points behind Inter for the final Champions League place.
The team is next in action on Monday when they host Empoli
