Toronto Blue Jays president and CEO Mark Shapiro told Fantasy Sports Radio Tuesday that top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will not skip Triple-A on his journey to the Major Leagues.

“He’s back on the field playing now at Double-A, at some point, I would expect he go to Triple-A. Once he gets to Triple-A then I think the question is more valid, but we’re not going to skip him over Triple-A,” Shapiro said.

The Blue Jays have not provided a timeline on when we could see Guerrero promoted to the Buffalo Bisons. Once he is in Triple-A, there is no indication how long he could spend there before being called up to the Majors.

"Great players have a way of deciding for themselves when they're going to come up and we want to make sure that he has the best foundation possible for him," Shapiro said.

Guerrero recently returned to the lineup with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats after missing six weeks with a patellar tendon strain. Yesterday, Guerrero was 1-4 with a home run and two RBI.

Guerrero started the season in Double-A and has torn up the Eastern League through 57 games. In his 217 at-bats, the 19-year-old has 12 home runs, 58 RBI and a slash line of .406/.453/.664.

The Blue Jays will be back in action Tuesday night against the Minnesota Twins after Monday's 8-3 loss. Jose Berrios is expected to take the ball for the Twins, countered by left-hander Ryan Borucki.
