Concussion protocol has been a major theme in sports over the past few years with head injuries becoming more and more prevalent.

Believe it or not, the sport of curling has entered that discussion as well.

After a nasty - and flukey - fall by Brad Gushue at the Masters of Curling in Truro, NS this past weekend, one that saw him get stiches above his right eye, the subject of protective headgear has been discussed.

Although nothing is imminent at the professional level, some curling clubs across Canada require youth curlers to wear helmets. Curling Canada is also putting together head safety recommendations to help avoid concussions. You can even buy "curling tuques" with protective padding in the lining.

So, should professional curlers wear some sort of protective headwear to prevent injury or is the idea of such a rule not even worthy of a discussion?
