Man United defender Mazraoui has had a procedure after heart palpitations
MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has undergone a medical procedure for heart palpitations, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press.
The person spoke on Thursday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.
The person said Mazraoui underwent a corrective procedure as a precaution and it was a relatively common condition.
A specific timeframe was not put on when Mazraoui is expected to return to playing, but the person said United hoped it would be within a “few weeks.”
Mazraoui joined United from Bayern Munich in the offseason for around $17 million and has played 10 times this term. His most recent appearance was last Sunday's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
According to the British Heart Foundation charity, palpitations “feel like your heart is racing, pounding, fluttering or like you have missed heartbeats.”
It says in most cases they are harmless, but treatment is required if tests show an underlying heart condition.
