This one came down to the wire.
Edmonton's Val Sweeting edged Ottawa's Rachel Homan in the Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game semifinal Friday night from Banff, AB and moved on to the final with $14,500 in her pocket.
The match went down to a deciding draw to the button shot after a carry-over in the eighth. Sweeting drew to the back four-foot, giving Homan an opportunity for the win, but the two-time Scotties champion threw too heavy, giving Sweeting the win and a skin of $6,500.
Team Homan was the defending champion at the event after grabbing $52,000 in total winnings at last year's Pinty's Skins Game.
Homan, 26, started off strong, taking $1,000 in the first end followed by $2,500 (with a close measure) in the third after a carry-over in the second end.
Sweeting, 28, got on the board in the fourth and then stole $2,000 in skins in the fifth end to tie the game.
In the sixth end, Homan made a beauty through the port tap to score two and grab $3,000 before Sweeting struck back with $4,500 in the seventh.
Team Sweeting now awaits the winner of Saturday's match between Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones and Edmonton's Kelsey Rocque.
The next game at the Pinty's All Star Curling Skins Game goes Saturday morning at 11am ET/8am PT as Calgary's Pat Simmons and St. John's Brad Gushue square off from Banff. You can catch that game on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4 and TSN5.
