Allyson Felix launches footwear and lifestyle brand, Saysh
Felix, one of the most decorated women in track and field history, was a long-time Nike athlete until separating from the brand in 2019 in high-profile contract negotiations.
Just a few days after qualifying for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, track and field superstar Allyson Felix announces she is launching her own lifestyle brand Saysh.
The brand will launch with the Saysh One sneaker as its first product.
The lightweight lifestyle sneaker comes in three colourways: white, black and light blue with white. Priced at US$150, the sneaker is designed to sculpt and support a woman’s foot without compromising style.
Felix wore a spiked version of the Saysh One at Olympic trials and plans on sporting a custom pair at the Games this summer.
Along with the sneakers, the brand announced the start of Saysh Collective, a digital community space for women to be empowered, connect and build relationships.
“It’s really about meeting women where they are,” said Felix to TIME. “It’s for that woman who has been overlooked, or feels like their voice hasn’t been heard... there’s just that power in the collective.”
Felix, one of the most decorated women in track and field history, was a long-time Nike athlete. Nike and Felix separated in 2019 after high-profile contract negotiations. In a New York Times op-ed, Felix said she was offered a 70 percent cut and no maternal guarantees following the birth of her daughter.
Nike has since updated their maternal policies for sponsored athletes. Felix has signed with Athleta, who will also sell Saysh products.
