Vince Carter wants to return for a 22nd NBA season.

"I'm coming back," Carter said on the Winging It podcast he does with Atlanta Hawks teammate Kent Bazemore that was posted Tuesday morning.

When asked whether or not he would play another season with the Hawks, Carter said he would like to.

"We'll see what happens," he added.

If Carter ends up playing a 22nd season, he would become the longest-tenured player in NBA history. Dirk Nowitzki, Robert Parish, Kevin Willis and Kevin Garnett -- along with Carter -- are tied for the longest careers ever. He will also have played in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020 (assuming he plays into the new year).

The 42-year-old appeared in 76 games with the Hawks this season, averaging 7.7 points per game with 2.6 rebounds. He was signed to a one-year, $2.4 million deal in August.

For his career, he is averaging 17.2 points per game on 43.7 per cent shooting.

Carter is an eight-time All-Star.
