"Unless something unbelievable happens," Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will stay at Arsenal during the January transfer window, manager Arsene Wenger said on Tuesday.
Both players are out of contract at season's end.
"As long as they are here, they give their best for the club," Wenger said ahead of Wednesday's match at the Emirates with Huddersfield Town. "In my head, they stay until the end of the season. Unless something unbelievable happens I don't see that changing."
Neither man is believed to be close to an extension and the club risks losing both players for nothing. Chile international Sanchez, 28, has been linked with Manchester City and Real Madrid, while Germany international Ozil, 29, has been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United.
"I am not the only one to decide that," Wenger said of the pair's futures. "They have to decide that, as well."
Wenger also hopes that England midfielder Jack Wilshere will stay at the club.
"I will absolutely fight for him to stay here because he's a top-quality player," Wenger said.
With the World Cup in June, Wilshere will look for more playing time to cement a place in Russia. The 25-year-old Wilshere spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and hasn't featured regularly this term.
Wednesday's match with the Terriers marks the beginning of a run of 10 matches in all competitions until December 31.
The Gunners (8-1-4) sit fourth in the table, 12 points behind City, and are coming off a last-minute 1-0 victory over Burnley on Sunday.
