Hockey Canada announced Thursday the 25 players who will represent Canada at the upcoming 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship from Aug. 20-31 at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Despite being just 18-years-old, Team Canada defenceman Jamie Drysdale came into the 2021 World Junior Championship in Edmonton with a veteran poise. While this year's tournament ended with a silver medal instead of gold for Canada, Drysdale took a notable step forward with his play.

For the second year in a row, forward Quinton Byfield is the youngest player on Team Canada at the World Junior Championship. Now 18 and fresh off being drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Kings in October’s NHL Draft, the expectations to perform are much higher for the Newmarket, Ont., native.

Gavin McKenna scored two goals and added four assists while Porter Martone chipped in with five points of his own as Canada closed the prelims with a decisive win over Kazakhstan. McKenna’s six points gives him 14 on the tournament, good for second place among all players, behind only Team USA’s James Hagens.
