The oddsmakers at Bodog.ca have made Canada a 3-to-2 favourite to capture the upcoming World Junior Championship on home soil in Toronto and Montreal.

A gold medal victory would be Canada's first since 2009, when they also won on home ice in Ottawa.

The United States is listed next to win gold at 5-to-2, with Russia and Sweden tied at 4-to-1 odds.

Defending champion Finland is listed at 9-to-1 odds to repeat.

Denmark is the longest shot of the 10-team field at 400-to-1 to win the tournament.

In terms of winning a medal at all, Canada is 4-to-9 to make the podium. It would be Canada's first top-three finish since 2012.

Bodog is also offering a proposition bet on whether Bo Horvat of the Vancouver Canucks and Curtis Lazar of the Ottawa Senators will be released to play for the junior national team.

In both cases, the odds favour both players staying with their NHL clubs.
