VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks will be without star forward Elias Pettersson as they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.

The team says the Swedish centre is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Pettersson notched an assist in Vancouver's 4-3 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday.

He did not participate in the optional morning skate on Sunday, and head coach Bruce Boudreau called his absence a "maintenance day."

Pettersson, 23, sits third on the team in scoring with 42 points (18 goals, 24 assists) in 59 games this season.

He played just 26 games in the pandemic-condensed 2020-21 season after suffering a season-ending wrist injury.
