FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - The Atlanta Falcons have reached an injury settlement with guard Jon Asamoah, ending the guard's two-year stay with the team.
Asamoah did not play this season because of a hip injury.
Atlanta signed Asamoah to a five-year contract with a $4 million signing bonus in March 2014. He started all 15 of his games last year at right guard, but at 6-foot-4, 315 pounds was considered too big in Atlanta's first year running co-ordinator Kyle Shanahan's zone blocking scheme.
Veteran Chris Chester was signed to take his place.
The Flacons host the undefeated Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
