NEW YORK, N.Y. - The New York Jets have re-signed linebacker Erin Henderson to a two-year contract.

The signing Thursday gives the Jets a potential starter at inside linebacker opposite David Harris. Henderson rotated at the spot last season with Demario Davis, who recently signed with Cleveland as a free agent.

Henderson, 29, played in every game last season after sitting out all of 2014. He had 45 total tackles on defence and also was a key contributor on special teams.

Henderson was signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in 2008 out of Maryland. He became a starter in 2011, but his career was put on hold when he was cut by the Vikings after two alcohol-related arrests. After a stint in rehabilitation, Henderson worked his way back to the field and signed with the Jets last off-season.
