Another starter for the Toronto Blue Jays is headed to the injured list.
The team placed Jameson Taillon on the 15-day IL with left elbow inflammation after the right-hander left his start against the Kansas City Royals after just 29 pitches.
The 34-year-old hurler was originally activated from the injured list for Friday’s start in Kansas City after missing nearly a month with right elbow tendonitis, but will now hit the shelf once again with just 20 games remaining on the Blue Jays’ calendar for the 2026 season.
The Lakeland, Fla. native’s earned run average stands at 3.60 in three starts with the Jays. He is carrying a 5.92 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP, collecting 72 strikeouts to 28 walks across 80 innings in 17 starts between the Chicago Cubs and Blue Jays this season.
With Taillon headed to the IL, the Blue Jays recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Triple-A.
Tiedemann, 24, has made two appearances out of the bullpen for Toronto this season, allowing one run over 2.2 innings pitched with two strikeouts and two walks.
Toronto (71-71) will continue its series with the Royals in Kansas City Saturday evening sitting just 1.0 game back of the final wild card spot in the American League.
