One day after the Pittsburgh Penguins announced both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin would miss the start of training camp, Crosby was back on the ice.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Crosby joined his teammates on the ice Friday morning.

It was a short-lived absence for Crosby, who according to head coach Mike Johnston was injured preparing for camp and was only being held out as a precaution.

Malkin remains out for the time being, but the Penguins said Thursday neither injury is considered long term.
