The New England Patriots will start rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett against the Houston Texans on Thursday night, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport reports Brissett will start as Jimmy Garoppolo nurses a sprained AC joint in his throwing (right) shoulder. Garoppolo could, however, could return in Week 4.

Brissett completed six of nine passes for 92 yards on Sunday in relief of Garoppolo. The Patriots led the Miami Dolphins 24-3 when Garoppolo exited in the second quarter and held on for a 31-24 victory.

Including Thursday’s clash with the Texans, the Patriots have two games to play before starter Tom Brady can return from his four-game suspension. The Patriots are 2-0 to start the season, as are the Texans.

Brissett, 23, spent two years at Florida before transferring to North Carolina State in 2013. In two season with the Wolfpack, he threw 43 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
