The Seattle Seahawks confirmed the release of backup quarterback Trevone Boykin on Tuesday following allegations of domestic assault.

Police in Mansfield, TX are investigating claims against Boykin from his girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey. Bailey told ABC affiliate WFAA Dallas that Boykin viciously assaulted her last Tuesday night over a text message.

"So he goes into a choke," Bailey said. "I remember him choking me and I'm trying to calm him down. And I just couldn't. And I blacked out. I just couldn't calm him down at all.The pressure was just hard. The pressure got hard to where I just remember just collapsing completely. And I just woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor. My whole right side was full of blood on the kitchen floor."

Bailey said that Boykin dragged her into the bathroom to clean her up before driving her to a local hospital. It was during separate conversations with hospital staff that Bailey revealed what happened and Boykin left the premises and didn't return.

Bailey was diagnosed with a jaw broken on both her left and right side and required to be airlifted to a facility in Dallas when her airway became constricted, leaving her unable to breathe without difficulty. She was released from hospital on Saturday.

Local police began their investigation Tuesday morning.

Bailey also revealed that a March 2017 incident in which both she and Boykin were arrested for public intoxication after crashing their car into the wall of a nightclub that injured pedestrians was the result of another assault.

"He leaned over, attacked me, and choked me unconscious which made the car go into drive to reverse," Bailey said.

Before Bailey went public with her claims, Boykin's agent denied any incident to WFAA.

"The info on Trevone as I’m sure you have heard was false," Drew Pittman told WFAA. "He was not involved in any situation.”

Later on Tuesday, Boykin released a statement to dispute the allegations.

A native of nearby Mesquite, TX, Boykin was arrested in late 2015 prior to the Alamo Bowl in which he was set to compete with TCU for a bar fight in which he punched a patrol officer. He was suspended for the game and pleaded no contest to the assault and received a one-year probation sentence along with community service. In April of 2017, he was arrested on suspicion of a probation violation.

After four years at TCU, Boykin signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seahawks prior to the 2016 season. He appeared in five games for the Seahawks in 2016.
