The Houston Texans filled their backup quarterback role Friday, re-signed Brandon Weeden.

The deal is for two years and $4 million, according to a report from ESPN.

The Texans claimed Weeden off waivers midway through last year before he appeared in two games with the team, throwing for 305 yards and three touchdowns.

Weeden will back up newly acquired starter Brock Osweiler with Brian Hoyer more likely now than ever to be playing elsewhere next season.

The 32-year-old has 6,462 career passing yards and 31 touchdowns to 30 interceptions in four seasons split between the Texans, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Browns.
