The Tampa Bay Lightning will not be loaning forward Jonathan Drouin to Team Canada for the World Juniors, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.
Drouin, 19, was Tampa Bay’s first round (third overall) pick in 2013.
He finished fourth with Team Canada in the 2013 World Junior Tournament.
In 20 games this year, Drouin has a goal and 11 points.
He spent last season with the Halifax Mooseheads.
The New York Rangers loaned forward Anthony Duclair in a move announced on Tuesday.
McKenzie also reports Team Russia will likely be without forward Andre Burakovsky of the Washington Capitals but the Buffalo Sabres are "seriously considering" making defenceman Nikita Zadorov available for the tournament.
Also it is "highly unlikely" the Edmonton Oilers will loan forward Leon Draisaitl to Team Germany.
